This module introduces students to the way pathogens (viruses, bacteria, fungi, protozoa, helminths) invade, establish, cause disease and evade the immune response in the vertebrate host.This is a compulsory core module for those on the Infectious Diseases programmes.

Assessment

Optional formative assignments are available to help students practice some of the principles discussed, and obtain tutor feedback.

2hr 15 unseen written paper examination (100%).

If students fail the module overall, they are allowed one further attempt at the examination.
