Queen Mary เหล๖สำฦต is a leading research-intensive university with a difference โ€“ one that opens the doors of opportunity to anyone with the potential to succeed.

Queen Mary เหล๖สำฦต is committed to ensuring that any student regardless of their background, can succeed and reach their full potential. With staff and students from over 170 nationalities on its เหล๖สำฦต campuses alone, Queen Mary is one of the most diverse higher education institutions in the world, and one whose student profile is distinctive among the Russell Group of leading research-intensive universities. More than 90 per cent of its home students come from state schools, 75 per cent are BAME (black, Asian and minority ethnic) and nearly 50 per cent are the first in their family into university.

Queen Mary has been ranked joint 7th in the UK for the quality of its research, with 92 per cent of its research assessed as internationally excellent or world-leading (REF 2021). It has nine Nobel Prize winners among its former staff and students. Explore Queen Maryโ€™s to find out more about its research.

In 2022, Queen Mary won the โ€˜University of the Yearโ€™ award at the sixth annual UK Social Mobility Awards. This follows a 2021 report by the Institute for Fiscal Studies in partnership with the Sutton Trust and UK Governmentโ€™s Department of Education that named the University as the best in the country for social mobility, and the 2021 Sunday Times Good University Guide which noted that โ€œQueen Mary continues to prove that social inclusion and academic success are not mutually exclusive.โ€

Queen Mary is embedded in the heart of เหล๖สำฦต with campuses in Mile End, Whitechapel, Lincolnโ€™s Inn Field, West Smithfield, Charterhouse Square, Newham and Ilford. It also has a presence in Malta, Paris, Singapore and China. Regarding public engagement, Queen Mary was the first UK university to receive the Gold Watermark (in 2016) and the Platinum Watermark (in 2021) from the UKโ€™s National Co-ordinating Centre for Public Engagement.
